May 29, 2016

Vancouver, Canada (May 29, 2016) – AbCellera showed up in full force to support science fairs alongside key players in the Vancouver technology industry at the Microsemi Science Fair Fun Run.

AbCellera employees and families came together to field a team of 27 runners (plus 1 stroller pilot), with more than 60% of AbCellera employees participating. “AbCellera is proud to join the community in promoting science, technology, and fitness in our community and across all ages. It is particularly exciting to see such a prominent showing of Vancouver’s Life Sciences organizations including STEMCELL Technologies, Precision Nanosystems, Kardium, Xenon Pharmaceuticals, CDRD, Genome BC and LSBC. We hope next year will bring an even larger group to help build this very positive and important event,” says Carl Hansen, CEO of AbCellera.

AbCellera finished with a winning time in the Corporate Team category, with the five fastest runners completing the 5K course in an average time of 18:14. AbCellera’s bioinformatics team led the charge with Georgia Mewis taking first place in the women’s event at a time of 18:51, and Anders Klaus finishing third overall with a time of 16:42. Carl Hansen took 1st place in the Male 40-49 age category.

The annual Microsemi Science Fair Fun Run is the largest timed 5K fun run in BC and is one of the technology industry’s largest events, supporting young scientists through science fairs across the province.
